The Mystery of the Thames Garnets - A collaborative project with artists Laura Copsey and Giorgia Scavo
The river is an archive with its own cataloguing system based on the tides, currents and its geography. It holds a wealth of lost social history and stories of the city's past. In certain sections of the foreshore, tiny gemstones can be found in large quantities and their purpose remains a mystery. Traditionally sailors would carry a talisman for good luck. Could these stones have been thrown overboard to placate the waters in times of crisis?
